Yard Goat Driver

The Yard Goat Driver is responsible for safely moving trailers and containers throughout the yard to support shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations. This position requires safe equipment operation, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced logistics environment.

The Yard Goat Driver is responsible for safely moving trailers and containers throughout the yard to support shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations. This position requires safe equipment operation, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a yard goat (yard jockey/terminal tractor) to move trailers and containers throughout the yard
  • Position trailers at loading and unloading docks according to operational needs
  • Transport empty and loaded containers safely and efficiently
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard equipment
  • Communicate with shipping, receiving, and warehouse personnel to coordinate trailer movements
  • Maintain accurate records of trailer locations and movements
  • Report equipment malfunctions, damage, or safety concerns to management
  • Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations (as applicable), and yard traffic procedures
