Part-time Weekend Nurse
Named by the Boston Globe as one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts for the last four years, our community-based, mission-driven hospice and palliative care organization seeks a part-time Weekend RN to join its expanding On-Call team. Travel to provide care in patients' private homes and residential facilities throughout Greater Boston and parts of MetroWest. The ideal candidate is well-organized and enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities:
The part-time Weekend Nurse is an integral part of an interdisciplinary hospice team responsible for caring for patients at the end of life. Makes home and hospital visits, provides information sessions, evaluates new patients, facilitates admissions to hospice services, and coordinates care planning. Employs triage and assessment skills to titrate medications and manage symptoms appropriately and provides education to patients and families about terminal diseases and end-of-life processes. Communicates with an interdisciplinary hospice team about changes in patients' needs and outcomes of interventions.
Schedule and Weekly Hours:
Saturdays and Sundays - 20-24 hours. We offer different schedules (8 am to 8 pm, 9 am to 9 pm, 10 am to 1 pm or 9 am to 7 pm)
Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Massachusetts.
  • 2 years of nursing experience and at least 1 year of hospice or equivalent nursing experience.
  • Sensitivity to and knowledge about end-of-life issues.
  • Comfortable working with socioculturally diverse patients/families.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage pain and control symptoms.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Adaptable to frequently changing patient needs.
  • Adaptable to technology.

Pay Range:
$42,000 - $52,000 (based on a 20-hour position): This number reflects an average starting range for this position. Individual pay is determined through a variety of factors, including experience, education, certifications, and skills and can exceed the range.
