Clean Harbors Elgin, IL is looking for a Diesel Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice to join their safety conscious team! This position will be responsible for assisting experienced mechanics in the building and fabrication of Vacuum Trucks.

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
  • Assist senior mechanics as needed and directed.
  • Perform warehouse duties as directed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks and inspections on company vehicles and equipment.
  • Complete daily checklist as required
  • Maintain facility via housekeeping duties
  • Performs other duties and tasks assigned by management that will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

  • High School diploma with career technical education.
  • Secondary Trade school preferred
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • 1+ years prior experience working on heavy duty-trucks and equipment.
  • 1+ years of DOT inspection experience required.
  • Must provide own basic tools
  • Related mechanical certifications preferred (not required)
  • Ability to pass a background, drug, and physical test upon hire
