Job description

GXM is seeking a Senior Front-End UI/UX Engineer to join our team to support advanced defense and space-related mission programs focused on Command and Control (C2), mission systems integration, cloud modernization, and enterprise capability delivery.
The selected candidate will serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing user interfaces supporting operational mission systems and Common Operating Picture (COP) environments. The Senior Front-End UI/UX Engineer will work closely with operators, software engineers, systems engineers, architects, and mission stakeholders to develop intuitive, mission-focused user experiences that improve situational awareness, operational effectiveness, and decision-making.
This role requires expertise in front-end engineering, user experience design, data visualization, and human-centered design principles supporting mission-critical operational environments.
This role is onsite in Colorado Springs, CO. Hybrid flexibility may be available over time based on mission requirements, program execution needs, and achievement of objectives.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of modern user interfaces supporting mission applications and operational capabilities.
  • Develop Common Operating Picture (COP) interfaces that provide operators with actionable information, situational awareness, and decision-support capabilities.
  • Create intuitive visualizations, dashboards, and data presentation approaches that improve mission understanding and operational effectiveness.
  • Analyze and optimize operator workflows to improve usability, reduce cognitive burden, and enhance mission execution.
  • Collaborate with operators, mission stakeholders, and engineering teams to gather requirements and translate operational needs into user-centered designs.
  • Develop reusable front-end components, design patterns, and interface standards supporting consistency across mission applications.
  • Conduct usability assessments, interface evaluations, and user feedback sessions to improve application performance and user experience.
  • Support integration of real-time operational data, analytics, and mission services into front-end applications.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and DevSecOps teams to ensure successful implementation of interface designs and user experience objectives.
  • Maintain interface documentation, design artifacts, and user experience recommendations supporting program execution and modernization efforts.

Requirements
  • U.S. Citizen with active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Design, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in front-end development, UI/UX engineering, user-centered design, or application development environments.
  • Experience designing and developing modern web-based user interfaces and operational applications.
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as React, Angular, Vue, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience developing dashboards, visualizations, or data-driven user interfaces.
  • Familiarity with user-centered design methodologies, usability principles, and workflow analysis techniques.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting defense, space, intelligence, or multi-domain operational environments.
