JOB PURPOSE

Reportingto the Associate Dean,SkilledTrades, the Program&PlacementSupportSpecialistsupports the delivery of Skilled Trades programs throughinshopsupervision, supplementary practical instruction, and coordinated shop operations. The role works closely with Instructors, students, support services, and industry partners to promote student success, safe and effective practical learning environments, and strong program outcomes.Thispositionisexpected to perform theirduties using initiative, problem-solving,and positive communications under minimum managerial supervision.

EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE

Completion of post-secondary college or university of one to two years in a skilled trade such as welding or machining isrequired.

Forklift and tow motor certification an asset and must be willing to obtain


EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / CULTURE AND LANGUAGE EXPERTISE


Over 1 year and including 3 years of relevant industry experience in a skilled trades environment (such as welding, machining, or a related field) isrequiredto independently carry out the full responsibilities of the role. This experience must include hands-on work with tools, equipment, and shop safety practices, as well as familiarity with industry standards and practical learning environments.


In addition, experience supporting trainees, or students-formally or informally-isrequiredto effectively provide supplemental practical instruction, inshop supervision, and learner support. Organizational experience such as coordinating shop activities, managing equipment and materials, supporting compliance with safety and operational requirements, and collaborating with instructors or supervisors is necessary to fulfill responsibilities related to shop operations, student success, and program delivery.


Prior experienceworkingfor an Indigenous organization is preferred.
