Job description

Design Build Lead Carpenter- Build Work That Outlasts You

Foster Remodeling Solutions- Lorton, VA

Some carpenters measure a career in years. The best ones measure it in homes: The additions still standing straight after two decades, the trim still tight, the families who ask for you by name when it's time for the next project.

If that's how you think about the work, we should talk.

For over 40 years, Foster Remodeling Solutions has been the name Northern Virginia homeowners trust with their biggest projects. We're a true design-build shop: we do the work in-house, we stand behind it with a5-year warranty, and we don't cut corners to hit a number. That reputation was built one quality project and one honest handshake at a time. We're looking for a Lead Carpenter who wants to keep building that trust in our community.

And our people tend to stay. One of our Lead Carpenters has been with us for more than 30 years, and we've had team members retire after nearly three decades on the crew. In this trade, that kind of tenure tells you everything about how a company treats its people.

What you'll own

You'll run projects start to finish, foundation to final walkthrough. Framing, additions, trim, cabinetry, tile, the whole scope. You'll schedule the subs, order the materials, keep the inspections on track, and keep the site broom-clean and safe every single day. Just as important: you'll mentor our apprentices and crews, because the craft only survives if someone bothers to pass it on. And you'll be the face the homeowner sees....the steady, straight-talking pro who makes a stressful remodel feel handled.

What you bring

  • 10+ years of lead carpentry/project management experience
  • Real depth in residential additions, framing, trim, and cabinet setting
  • Fluency with local building codes and the judgment to build it right the first time
  • Pride in a tidy worksite, a square corner, and a promise kept
  • High school diploma or GED

What we bring

  • Steady, year-round work- no "feast-or-famine", no lay offs every winter
  • Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM. Home for dinner.
  • Medical, dental & vision (company contributes), plus short & long-term disability
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave
  • Project performance & change-order bonuses, plus employee referral bonuses
  • Company vehicle (with a good driving record) or mileage reimbursement
  • Tool purchase assistance and Red Wing boots on us
  • Company training & educational assistance- We invest in people who plan to stay
  • An existing staff with decades-long careers within the company, real longevity

The honest fine print

We're a drug-free workplace; employment includes a background check and participation in our Drug-Free Workplace Program, as permitted by applicable law.

Foster Remodeling Solutions is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We welcome and consider every qualified applicant, and we're committed to a fair, respectful workplace for everyone on our crew.
