Toolroom Supervisor - Journeyman Moldmaker
Elk Grove Village, IL | $35-$50/hour
If you're a Journeyman Moldmaker who has mastered the craft and is ready to lead a toolroom without giving up the hands-on work you enjoy, this is an opportunity worth looking at.
You'll lead day-to-day Tool Room operations while continuing to build, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain injection molds. You'll mentor other moldmakers, work closely with Engineering and Production, and help keep critical tooling running so production stays on track.
You'll also be joining an advanced manufacturing organization with 80 years of global experience, working with technologies used to produce complex aerospace and medical device components.

What you'll do:
• Lead daily Tool Room operations and supervise Tool Room personnel
• Build, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain injection molds and tooling
• Prioritize tooling projects with Engineering and Production
• Coordinate with outside tooling vendors on quality and delivery
• Mentor apprentices and train Tool Room employees
• Monitor Tool Room KPIs and manage tooling inventory
• Recommend improvements to tooling processes
• Operate CNC machines, EDM, manual mills, grinders, and precision measuring equipment
• Build tooling and fixtures from engineering drawings and CAD data
• Support preventive maintenance and maximize tooling uptime
What you'll need:
• Journeyman Moldmaker certification required
• Extensive hands-on experience building and repairing injection molds
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or lead moldmaker experience
• Strong knowledge of mold maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance
• Experience reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and 3D CAD data
• Experience with CNC machining, EDM, milling machines, grinders, and precision measuring equipment
• Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software
• High School Diploma required
• Supervisory training or equivalent leadership experience preferred
