Job Summary:

The Integrated Fire and Security Solutions Orlando, FL branch is seeking experienced Senior Technicians to join our team! This role focuses on the installation, configuration, programming, and commissioning of fire alarm and electronic security systems — including CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection (IDS) — on new construction and large-scale retrofit projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience across both disciplines, with a proven track record leading project installations from rough-in through final inspection.

Project area is primarily the Central Florida region, including Greater Orlando.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute project-based installations of fire alarm and electronic security systems, including device layout, wiring, programming, testing, and commissioning.
  • Configure and commission security platforms — IP camera systems, access control panels and readers, and intrusion detection devices — including network setup, software configuration, and end-user walkthroughs.
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and submittals, and maintain accurate as-built documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with project managers to ensure all equipment, materials, and tools are staged and ready for each phase of installation.
  • Identify and resolve field modifications, RFIs, or scope gaps to keep projects on schedule and within specification.
  • Verify compliance with NFPA 72, NEC, Florida Fire Prevention Code, and AHJ requirements throughout installation and closeout.
  • Conduct pre-functional and acceptance testing, supporting AHJ inspections and final system turnover to the customer.
  • Stay current with emerging fire alarm and security technologies, manufacturer platforms, and best practices through ongoing training and certifications.
  • Maintain clear communication with project managers, general contractors, electrical contractors, IT/network stakeholders, AHJs, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Mentor junior technicians and apprentices, providing technical guidance on complex installations and code application.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in the low-voltage industry, with hands-on project experience in fire alarm and/or electronic security system installation.
  • Working knowledge of security systems including CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection (IDS).
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and Florida Fire Prevention Code.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, riser diagrams, and submittal packages.
  • Familiarity with IP networking fundamentals as applied to security system deployment.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment on active construction sites.
  • Valid Florida Fire Alarm License (FASA/BASA) required, or ability to obtain within an agreed-upon timeframe.
  • Proficiency with fire alarm and security programming software and technology tools.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS degree or Technical School Certification in electronics, fire alarm systems, electronic security, or a related field.
  • NICET Level II or higher certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Manufacturer certifications for major fire alarm platforms (e.g., Notifier, Silent Knight, EST/Edwards, Siemens, Honeywell, Gamewell-FCI).
  • Manufacturer certifications for major security platforms (e.g., Avigilon, Genetec, Milestone, Software House/Lenel, Bosch, Axis, DMP).
  • Florida Burglar Alarm System Agent license or ability to obtain.

This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces.
