Job description

The Apprentice Nursing Student works under a supervising licensed nurse serving in the role of mentor. The responsibilities of the Apprentice Nursing Student include providing direct patient care and maintaining patient care standards. The Apprentice Nursing Student must exhibit the ability to work with people form diverse socio-economic backgrounds; to organize, set priorities and manage multiple priorities, and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.


Education required: High School Diploma/GED

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in a board approved nursing education program
  • Actively engaged in a registered apprenticeship
  • Has obtained a student nurse apprentice permit issued form the Alabama board of nursing                      

Licensure/Certification: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period.
