Pay Information

Hourly Wage: $35.60 to $78.73 per hour*, based on experience. (Wages follow the UA Local 67 wage schedule.)

*UA Local 67 Wage Schedule Details (Total Hourly Rate)

    • Journeyperson: $77.68/hr
    • Apprentice 5th Year : $63.66/hr
    • Apprentice 4th Year : $56.65/hr
    • Apprentice 3th Year : $49.63/hr
    • Apprentice 2th Year : $42.64/hr
    • Apprentice 1th Year : $35.60/hr

Full details about hourly rates, remittances, and related terms will be provided at the time of hire/sign-on through the Union Hall.

Travel Pay**: 

An extra $50 per day will be paid to workers who live outside the UA Local 67 zone.

This may apply to workers who live north of Highway 401, between Oakville and Woodstock.
Full details will be provided at the time of hire.

**Proof of permanent residence is required at hire.

Union Requirements

If the successful candidate is not already a member of UA Local 67, they must receive clearance from:

United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, Local 67. This clearance must be completed before starting work.

Future Local 67 membership will only be considered after successful completion of work assignment(s).

Work Location

This position is mainly for Pipe Fitter work at the GM Propulsion Plant in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Additional positions may also be available in the Hamilton and Niagara regions.

This posting is primarily for available pipe fitter work at GM St. Catharines, Ontario, Propulsion Plant, but other Hamilton/Niagara positions also available.

Summary of the Role

Responsible for fitting, fabricating and installing piping parts, systems, and supporting structures, thereby ensuring proper fitting and alignment of weld components. Interpret drawings and execute cutting, forming, and joining processes to meet the required specifications. Ensure all work is performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with quality policies, programs, and practices with respect to the various codes and standards on company projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Builds, assembles, and repairs products made from ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Reads and interprets engineered drawings, sketches, codes, and standards.
  • Plans work sequences and executes fabrication tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Performs calculations and applies formulas using mathematical methods.
  • Measures, marks, and lays out piping systems and/or components.
  • Sets up and operates trade-specific machinery to perform tasks.
  • Assembles and fits components to create subassemblies
  • Connects components using various welding processes and mechanical fasteners.
  • Safely utilizes material handling, rigging, hoisting, and lifting equipment.
  • Tack welds components to support the welding process, as required.
  • Performs all duties with precision, ensuring compliance with drawings, codes, and applicable standards.
Key Requirements, Experience and Skills
  • Certificate of Qualification (C of Q), an asset
  • Welding or Metal Fabrication Program and/or experience, asset.
  • High school diploma.
