Position Description ENTRY SALARY: $56,345.31 POSITION OPEN UNTIL FILLED Under general supervision, the Plumber maintains, repairs, and provides general care for all plumbing systems, equipment, and components within municipal buildings, apparatus, and facilities. Performs specialized plumbing work of a professional level. Employees selected for this position must meet FDLE guidelines in order to access sensitive and/or confidential information. Applicants with arrest histories for felonies or serious misdemeanors may be denied access to this information and as such, will not meet the minimum qualifications for a position with the City of Clearwater. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Installs, modifies, maintains, and repairs all plumbing systems, equipment, components, and fixtures within the City municipal buildings, facilities, parks, and common areas; ensures functionality and operation for public usage.
  • Performs installation, modification, and repair of water distribution piping and fittings; monitors sanitary sewer piping and ensures safety and compliance with sewer and wastewater regulations; snakes drains when there is a problem, addresses issues, and performs plumbing repair work as needed.
  • Installs and repairs various bath fixtures within the facilities; cleans and repairs sinks, changes and maintains water filtration systems, and pumps water heaters to ensure full functionality and operation.
  • Cleans, maintains, and repairs water fountains, showers, and grease traps used throughout the facilities.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and designs; determines necessary work to be done and establishes a timeline for completion; prioritizes emergent plumbing issues and ensures all work is completed or assigned.
  • Keeps, maintains, and drafts records and files on work in process and work completed; provides detailed information on plumbing work and tasks still in process.
  • Works, engages, and communicates with other contractors performing general and specialized work throughout the city; assists and supports other contractors in maintenance and plumbing repair work.
  • Executes daily workload through an electronic work order system by receiving and tracking work orders to completion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications A valid State driver's license is required. Journeyman Plumber's Certificate issued by the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board, or the ability to obtain this certificate within one year of employment. This position is required to operate the below equipment, machines, tools, and other work aides: Ladders, various hand tools, drills, saws, cutters, plumbing snakes, torches, pumps, handheld sewer line camera, sewer line locator, and other equipment as assigned. Education and Experience: High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate AND five (5) years experience installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing equipment for commercial and residential use; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. NOTE: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
