Description

The ABC Home and Commercial Services (ABC) Residential Pest Apprentice is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all ABC customers. Professional behavior is always expected while servicing a home or business, and respect and care of customers' property are required. The Residential Apprentice Pest Technician must be a hardworking and detail-oriented pest management professional. They must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be customer-focused. The Residential Apprentice Pest Technician must be trustworthy, as duties are completed without physical supervision from the clients and management.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Mixing and applying pesticides and rodenticides to structures according to schedule, safety procedures, label instructions, and Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) law.
  • Physically inspect client's property and dwelling for pest activity, calculating the severity of infestations and the degree of structural damage.
  • Provide solutions for pest activity on-site in a variety of accounts.
  • Build strong relationships and rapport with clients; interacting with them directly regarding the work to be accomplished.
  • Identifies and reports any damage to customer's property.
  • Insulation removal and installation in attics for long periods of time.
  • Installation of Termimesh.
  • Meets deadlines of route and informs office staff of resets and skipped services or not completed work.
  • Submitting all paperwork daily.
  • Attend required department meetings and company, or vendor training as required.
  • Consistently submitting at least 5 leads per month through ABC's Lead Line program.
  • Maintain a professional appearance including uniform, company vehicle and equipment, and personal hygiene.
  • Uses personal protective equipment to as is required or for prevention purposes.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, work under pressure and handle irate customers and still maintain good composure.
  • Maintain quality and safe work habits by following company procedures.
  • Expected to be available to work 5:00 am until 4 pm, or 7:00 am until 7:00 pm, 5 days a week. Schedule will be either Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday.
  • Expected to work an occasional Saturday.
  • Expected to be available to be in the on-call rotation schedule to cover nights and weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Good Communication (written/oral).
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Good driving record.
  • Computer Skills required.
  • Ability to tolerate a variety of environmental conditions, i.e., Heat/Cold, Heights and Confined spaces.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is desired.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Following on-the-job training and the requirements, employee is required to complete state certification/licensing process.
  • Ability to use and navigate electronic tablet/phone, etc.

Physical Demands with or without accommodations are not limited to:

  • Ability to drive a vehicle with standard or automatic gear and enter and exit a truck or car.
  • Ability to walk for long periods of time in extreme temperatures including outdoors.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Repetitive lifting, twisting, pulling, pushing and carry up to 50 lbs. may be required.
  • Ability to carry a 40 lb. backpack throughout the day.
  • Wears respirator according to OSHA requirements.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces like crawlspaces and attics for long periods of time.

Driver's Responsibilities:

  • Using a company vehicle drives to destinations listed on the daily route.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of company vehicle such as tire conditions, tire replacement whenever needed, checks for condition of brakes, gets oil change done in a timely basis, etc.
  • Follow safety protocols while driving, respects driving regulations and codes and reports all work related injuries immediately to Service Manager or Division Manager.
  • Complies with vehicle usage policy agreement.
  • Maintain good driving record.
  • Reports any auto accidents to Service Manager within 1 hour of accident.
  • Must maintain an active Texas Driver's license and submit copy of renewed license to HR.

Pay:

$17 - $18 per hour
