Job description

The Engineering Technician supports engineering, testing, drafting, and fabrication activities by building and operating test chamber mock-ups, recording test data, preparing technical documentation, and creating design and manufacturing support files. This role requires strong hands-on mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with engineers and production teams to support product development, testing, and manufacturing readiness.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build test chamber mock-ups, fixtures, and related assemblies according to engineering direction, drawings, and specifications.
  • Set up, operate, monitor, and maintain test chambers during engineering tests and validation activities.
  • Record, organize, and document test data, observations, results, and operating conditions accurately and consistently.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including test records, fabrication notes, drawing revisions, and project files.
  • Create, revise, and maintain 2D drawings using AutoCAD for fabrication, layout, and engineering support purposes.
  • Create and update SolidWorks bill of materials (BOMs) to support prototype builds, manufacturing, purchasing, and engineering documentation.
  • Develop CNC programs and assist with machining setup to support prototype and production fabrication needs.
  • Create fabrication drawings that clearly communicate dimensions, tolerances, materials, and assembly requirements.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, technical instructions, and specifications.
  • Support engineers with prototype builds, troubleshooting, product improvements, and design verification activities.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in a safe, organized, and efficient condition.
  • Follow company safety procedures, quality standards, and applicable work instructions at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in an Engineering related field
  • Relevant hands-on technical experience may be substituted for formal education
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles, materials, and testing methods
  • Proficiency with measurement tools and testing equipment
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
