Summary

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Faculty - Mathematics - Moore County Campus who will be all-in on our mission and who is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in mathematics courses at the Moore County Campus and fostering student success through engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate teaching practices. Instruction should reflect a commitment to student success, culturally responsive teaching, workforce alignment, and the effective integration of instructional technology. Teaching responsibilities may include classroom, laboratory, technology-supported, hybrid, dual credit, Innovation Outpost, and/or online learning environments. Faculty members are responsible for timely preparation of assigned courses, maintaining current knowledge in subjects taught, developing instructional materials aligned with approved course outcomes, assessing student learning, and maintaining professional standards in accordance with College policies, procedures, and accreditation requirements.
In addition to teaching, faculty members serve as academic advisors, assist students with educational planning and registration, participate in curriculum development and assessment activities, contribute to departmental and College committees, support recruitment and community outreach efforts, and engage in professional development activities consistent with the mission and goals of Amarillo College.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Master's Degree in Mathematics from an accredited institution; or
Master's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Mathematics or mathematics-intensive engineering coursework from an accredited institution.
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Previous teaching, tutoring, or instructional experience in mathematics at the post-secondary level. Experience teaching developmental, college-level, or dual credit mathematics courses. Experience utilizing instructional technology and learning management systems to enhance student learning.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned mathematics courses using effective, engaging, and student-centered instructional strategies that support student learning and success.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver organized classroom instruction in accordance with approved course outlines and institutional standards.
  • Develop lesson plans, assignments, assessments, and learning activities that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Utilize instructional technology, software applications, graphing calculators, and other educational resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, examinations, projects, and other assessment methods; provide timely feedback and maintain accurate grading records.
  • Maintain current and compliant course syllabi for all assigned courses.
  • Monitor student attendance, academic progress, and performance while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Conduct regular office hours and provide academic support, mentoring, and guidance to students.
  • Serve as an academic advisor and assist students with degree planning, course selection, transfer pathways, and registration processes.
  • Participate in curriculum development, course review, assessment activities, program evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with textbook review and selection, course scheduling, and departmental planning activities.
  • Submit required reports, grades, records, and institutional documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, faculty meetings, professional development activities, commencement ceremonies, and other College events.
  • Serve on College committees and task forces as assigned.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Maintain professional expertise through continued learning and engagement in the discipline.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners to support institutional goals.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, communicate, and operate standard office and classroom equipment. The employee may occasionally be required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move instructional materials, office supplies, or equipment up to twenty-five (25) pounds as needed.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including daytime, evening, weekend, and special event assignments as needed. Travel between campuses, schools, and community locations may be required.
Work Environment: This position operates in a professional educational environment that includes classrooms, laboratories, offices, and community locations. The employee routinely uses computers, phones, printers, projectors, calculators, learning management systems, and other instructional technologies. Work is performed in a dynamic environment with frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
