We are searching for a Sr. Nuclear Outage Mechanical Planner on behalf of our client.This is a 1-year contract assignment.(W-2) The Senior Nuclear Planner is a key technical position responsible for developing comprehensive work packages for maintenance, modifications,and surveillance activities at nuclear power facilities. This position requires advanced planning expertise, strong technical knowledge of nuclear systems, and the ability to lead planning initiatives that ensure safe, efficient, and compliant work execution. Fluent in ISI, IST, ASME Sect XI, ANI, ANII, Weld Travelers


Location: Homestead, FL 33035. Per diem available.

1-year contract assignment.(W-2)


Key Responsibilities

Work Package Development & Planning

• Develop detailed work order task descriptions, including step-by-step instructions, material requirements, tool lists, and post-maintenance testing requirements

• Plan complex maintenance activities including ASME Section XI work, ISI/IST programs, and modification packages

• Ensure work packages comply with regulatory requirements, technical specifications, and plant procedures

• Coordinate clearance requirements and equipment isolation strategies with Operations

• Identify and resolve technical issues during the planning phase to prevent field delays


Technical Leadership & Mentoring

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced planners and planner associates

• Lead planning initiatives for outage and online work activities

• Participate in work week planning meetings and provide expert planning input

• Develop and deliver training content for planner development Programs

• Serve as subject matter expert for planning processes and tools


Cross-Functional Coordination

• Interface with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Work Management, and Supply Chain to optimize work execution

• Participate in pre-job briefs and post-job critiques to continuously improve planning quality

• Coordinate with Radiation Protection and Chemistry for radiological and chemical hazard controls

• Support outage planning activities including milestone achievement and critical path management


Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all work packages meet Quality Assurance requirements and regulatory standards

• Incorporate Operating Experience (OE) and lessons learned into planning products

• Maintain configuration control and ensure proper documentation of as-built conditions

• Support corrective action program by addressing planning-related issues


Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, tools, and standards

• Develop and maintain planning templates, work standards, and best practices

• Participate in benchmarking activities and industry working groups

• Support implementation of new planning technologies and systems (e.g., NAMS)


Required Qualifications


Education & Experience

• Minimum: Associate's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical field, or equivalent 10 years plant experience in a technical field.

• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related science

• Experience: Minimum 7+ years of nuclear power plant experience,

with at least 4 years in maintenance planning or equivalent technical role

• Demonstrated progression in planning responsibilities and complexity of work assignments


Technical Knowledge

• Comprehensive understanding of nuclear plant systems, components, and operations

• Working knowledge of ASME codes (Section XI, Section IX), ISI/IST programs, and regulatory requirements

• Proficiency with work management systems (NAMS/Passport, Primavera P6)

• Understanding of maintenance practices across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, I&C)

• Knowledge of configuration management, design control, and modification processes


Skills & Competencies

• Technical Writing: Ability to develop clear, concise, and technically accurate work instructions

• Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve complex technical issues

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional coordination

• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to mentor others and lead planning initiatives

• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to ensure accuracy and completeness of work packages

• Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience planning for refueling outages and major maintenance activities

• Familiarity with multiple nuclear plant designs (PWR and/or BWR)

• Knowledge of FME (Foreign Material Exclusion) controls and cleanliness requirements

• Experience with engineering calculations and technical evaluations

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (preferred but not required)


Working Conditions

• Office and plant environment with occasional field walkdowns

• May require extended hours during outage planning periods

• Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization


Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform plant walkdowns including climbing ladders,

accessing confined spaces, and navigating industrial environments

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.


Organizational Relationships

• Reports To: Planning Manager

• Interfaces With: Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Work Management, Supply Chain, Radiation Protection, Chemistry, Quality Assurance

• May Supervise: Planner Associates or less experienced planners (mentoring capacity)


We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $47.00/hr. to $52.00/hr.
