Job Summary
ServicePoint IT is seeking an experienced Structured Cabling Lead Technician to lead CAT5 and CAT6 installation projects in large-scale commercial environments throughout the Anaheim, CA, area. The Lead Technician will be responsible for supervising field crews, coordinating daily jobsite activities, ensuring quality workmanship, maintaining safety compliance, and driving projects to successful completion.
This hands-on leadership role serves as the primary on-site representative, coordinating directly with project managers, customers, general contractors, and field personnel. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise in structured cabling installations while demonstrating proven experience leading crews in commercial construction environments. Travel may be required for select projects throughout the United States, with the primary focus being the Anaheim market.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct daily activities of structured cabling crews on commercial construction and technology deployment projects.
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and project schedules to ensure efficient execution of work.
  • Assign tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure all work is completed according to project specifications and quality standards.
  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot CAT5, CAT6, and related structured cabling systems as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on-site for project managers, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Review project drawings, blueprints, specifications, and scope documents to plan and execute installations.
  • Conduct jobsite walkthroughs, site assessments, and pre-construction planning activities.
  • Ensure proper cable routing, support, dressing, labeling, testing, and documentation.
  • Train, mentor, and develop technicians while promoting best practices and craftsmanship.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively resolve field issues that may impact schedules or quality.
  • Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and jobsite safety requirements.
  • Complete daily reports, documentation, and project updates as required.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in structured cabling installation (CAT5/CAT6) within commercial construction or enterprise environments.
  • 5+ years of experience leading field crews as a Foreman, Lead Technician, Crew Leader, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling standards, installation methods, and industry best practices.
  • Experience coordinating multiple technicians and managing day-to-day jobsite operations.
  • Proficiency with Fluke testers and other cable certification and testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work from ladders and lifts, and perform duties in various commercial construction environments.
  • Willingness to travel as much as 50%.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BICSI Installer, Technician, or RCDD certification.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with fiber optic installation, termination, and testing.
