Ameren Illinois provides electric transmission and distribution service and natural gas distribution service. Every day, we deliver electricity to 1.2 million electric and 816,000 natural gas customers in central and southern Illinois. We deliver safe, reliable energy to more than 1,200 communities.
Ameren Illinois is looking for a Journeyman Meterman or Apprentice Meterman 1st 9 Months who will under the direction of a qualified journeyman or member of management, complete the necessary training to be able to perform all duties required of an Electric Meter Journeyman. Apprentices will be expected to successfully complete a three-year apprenticeship program before they can be promoted to journeyman status. This position requires a significant amount of technical training and the willingness to work safely. Be available to work overtime, assist in the training of apprentices and other various duties required of a Journeyman Meterman.
APPRENTICE:
A prerequisite requirement for the Electric Meterman Apprentice Program is the completion of a junior college level course in technical mathematics. The candidate has four options:
Successful completion of an Ameren electrical apprenticeship would enter as a 2nd 9 Mos.
The courses may be successfully completed at a college or junior college.
A correspondence course approved by the Joint Committee may be successfully completed, or
Successful completion of a Math equivalency test administered by Local Community College, indicate an adequate existing technical and high school math proficiency, the candidate will be considered eligible for the program.
The courses at a minimum shall consist of instruction in fractions, percent, measure, graphs, algebra, equations, ratio, and proportion trigonometry.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of Ameren Meterman Apprenticeship Training
Must obtain and retain a valid Illinois Driver's License
Construction & Skilled Trades (CAST) test
This position is covered by the - IBEW bargaining agreement.
Hourly Pay:
