Job description

We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Hydraulic Systems Specialist to join a leading Company located in the Temple, TX surrounding area.

You'll be the technical expert behind our hydraulic cylinder remanufacturing operation. From initial inspection through final testing, you'll diagnose failures, guide repair strategies, and ensure that every cylinder meets performance expectations before it returns to service. This role sits at the center of quality, reliability, and continuous improvement. When something doesn't add up, you're the one people come to.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect incoming hydraulic cylinders and components for wear, damage, and compliance
  • Diagnose failure modes, mechanical, hydraulic, material, or operational
  • Evaluate rods, barrels, pistons, glands, and sealing systems for repairability
  • Determine repair vs. replace decisions based on condition, cost, and performance
  • Document findings clearly, measurements, nonconformances, and recommended actions
  • Oversee critical repair processes, including machining, honing, welding, and thread restoration
  • Ensure all work meets OEM specifications, tolerances, and internal quality standards
  • Validate performance through pressure testing, leak testing, and functional checks
  • Interpret and apply engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Support the development of standardized repair methods and process improvements
  • Where You Add the Most Value
    • Lead or support failure analysis investigations and identify root causes
    • Recommend corrective and preventive actions that actually stick
    • Partner with machining, assembly, and quality to resolve complex issues
    • Improve reliability, not just fix individual parts
    • Train and mentor technicians, inspectors, and apprentices
    • Raise the overall technical capability of the team

Basic Hiring Criteria:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience across hydraulic repair, machining, assembly, testing, and inspection
  • IFPS Hydraulic Mechanic (HM) or Hydraulic Specialist (HS), or the ability to obtain within 9 months
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic cylinder design, function, and failure modes
  • Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, and hydraulic schematics
  • Experience with precision measurement tools and machining processes
  • Familiarity with NDT methods (MT, UT, PT, visual)
  • Working knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG) and repair techniques
  • Experience with cylinder testing methods and quality standards
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar QMS environments
  • Experience with ERP systems and digital documentation tools
  • Forklift experience is a plus

Desired Qualifications:
  • You don't just fix problems, you figure out why they happened
  • You understand how hydraulic systems behave in the real world, not just on paper
  • You're comfortable making judgment calls when the answer isn't obvious
  • You can move between hands-on work and technical analysis without missing a beat
  • You communicate clearly, whether it's on the floor or in a report
