Primary Purpose

To safely expose entry level or base GAP students to a board base knowledge in all aspects of Endura Products Manufacturing and Support areas by working with: Production Control (scheduling), Quality, Inventory, Product and Process Engineering, Testing, Tool and Die and Manufacturing to learn the processes of a door entry system.

This entry base position (normally junior under 18) will learn about our manufacturing processes and how each different product line works together in a door entry system. This will expose the student to multiple areas while gaining an understanding of how our processes work together by job shadowing in manufacturing. It will require a more hands on approach to scheduling, inventory, and quality during the first year. It will involve ensuring good safe work practices and communication. This program will provide a learning approach in each area assigned to eventually prepare them for a full apprenticeship and hands on manufacturing. This time period should allow the base or pre apprentice to develop skills that will allow them to be successful as a full apprentice.

Consistent meetings with program leads will be require to chart overall learning and progress.

Level - Base or Entry

Responsibilities include:

  • Must have excellent attendance in class and during assigned work hours
  • Complete safety orientation and fully follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be active in the Safety Awareness/Suggestion Program
  • Provide effective communication (verbally & written), with ability to understand verbal and written communication.
  • Must be able to read a Tape Measure, use Calipers and other QC tools/gauges to dimensionally check product to specifications per Product Print & Standard Work or have capability to learn.
  • Must be able to learn to visually identify Raw Material as well as Semi-Finished Product.
  • Must become familiar with all production scheduling and internal specification sheet creations.
  • Must demonstrate excellent retention of training on part numbers including raw, semi-finished , and finished products
  • Must have good basic computer skills and ability to learn and utilize Excel Spreadsheets
  • Must display a positive attitude and maintain positive working relationships with peers and all support groups. Must be a team player.
  • Ability to retain coaching and training in scheduling, inventory, product development, testing and quality.
Additional Information

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

Must have basic PC Skills and ability to use a Tape Measure, Calipers, Gauges and other QC Tools/Equipment. Associate must develop a thorough knowledge of the plant product lines from Raw Material to Finished Goods. Must be able to utilize a Scan Gun. Must learn a thorough knowledge of aluminum profiles for identification.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

This position will learn skills in the use of a PC dealing with QAD.net, MS Excel and MS Word, QCBD, Standard Work, SOPs, Print reading capabilities, use of a Scan Gun, and other related QC equipment.

INITIATIVE & INGENUITY:

Work priorities are determined by supervision. Must be self-motivated, and wiling to, learn and retain knowledge.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Under specific direction of Plant Management where goals and objectives are established. Coordinate and advise to Supervision of any unusual circumstances or issues, as supervision in this area may be limited at times.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS:

Daily contact with other members of QC, Receiving, Purchasing, Engineering and Support area. Constant follow up with supervision on learning objectives and priorities and /or issues. Regular contact with other members of all departments for continuous improvement.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Flow of work and character of duties involve repetitive use of hands, wrist and arm motion, as well as multiple periods of standing. Normal and corrected hearing along with good vision is required. Extreme attention to detail is required with handling product. Maximum lifting weight is 35lbs. You must seek assistance if lifting anything heavier than 35lbs. is necessary.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT:

Responsible for the care of Digital Calipers, a PC and QC equipment as well as other equipment assigned or used. Damage to any of these will result in a loss for the company.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations as specified in the Endura's Safety Manual. This responsibility necessitates the wearing of proper safety attire such as Earplugs and Safety Glasses. Must be active in the safety awareness/suggestion program.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management. Regular attendance is an essential job function.
