Job Overview:

The Mobile Hydraulic Hose Technician is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing hydraulic hoses and systems directly at customer sites and in the field. This role requires travel to various job locations to perform hose repairs, and hose replacement on equipment, while ensuring minimal downtime for customers. The Mobile Technician will have a strong understanding of hydraulic principles, hose specifications, and safety standards, and will serve as a front-line representative of Blanchard Machinery Company.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission, and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Travel to customer sites in a fully equipped mobile service truck to provide on-site hydraulic hose service and support.
  • Fabricate hydraulic hoses according to specifications, including measuring, cutting, and crimping hoses.
  • Assemble and install hose fittings, ensuring proper connections and leak-free operation.
  • Inspect and repair damaged hydraulic hoses and lines, determining the extent of the damage and the necessary repairs.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic system issues related to hoses and fittings in the field.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on hydraulic hose assemblies and associated components.
  • Identify hose specifications and select appropriate hoses and fittings for various applications.
  • Conduct pressure testing of hose assemblies to ensure integrity and safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of field service calls, hose inventory, repairs, and installations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures on customer job sites.
  • Maintain a clean and organized mobile service truck and tools.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members, providing exceptional service and support.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Vocational training or certification in hydraulics is preferred.
  • 6 months to 1 year of proven experience as a Hydraulic Hose Technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hydraulic systems and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, including crimping machines and measuring equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while on customer sites.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license with fewer than three moving violations in the past three years (required for mobile positions).

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work in both shop and field settings, including construction sites, industrial facilities, and outdoor environments.
  • Exposure to varying conditions such as heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid environments.
  • Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
  • Jobs require standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
  • Use of computers and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
  • Regular travel within assigned service territory.
