Job Title: HVAC Helper
($19-$22, dependent upon experience)
Location: Hampton Roads

Reports To: HVAC Technician / Maintenance Supervisor
Job Summary
The HVAC Helper assists skilled HVAC technicians in maintaining, repairing, and installing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within an industrial facility. This role supports preventative maintenance tasks, ensures equipment operates efficiently, and helps maintain a safe and compliant work environment during night shift operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist HVAC technicians with installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial HVAC systems and equipment
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance such as filter changes, coil cleaning, and belt inspections
  • Help troubleshoot mechanical issues and support diagnostics under supervision
  • Transport tools, materials, and equipment to job sites within the facility
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, mechanical rooms, and equipment
  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and OSHA guidelines
  • Record basic maintenance data and report issues to supervisors
  • Support emergency repairs and system checks during night operations
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Basic mechanical aptitude; HVAC training or trade school preferred
  • 0–2 years of experience in HVAC, maintenance, or industrial environment (entry-level candidates welcome)
  • Ability to work overnight shifts consistently
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior technicians
  • Able to obtain a Universal EPA card
