Position Description
Position Summary
The Boiler Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial boilers, steam systems, and related auxiliary. This is a service and repair role, the technician does not operate client boiler equipment as part of normal duties. This role works both independently and alongside a service team, with regular rotation to assigned client sites.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and testing of boilers, burners, and related combustion and steam/hot-water systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, combustion, and control system malfunctions on a variety of boiler makes and models.
  • Perform boiler start-ups, tune combustion, and verify safe operation of safety and relief devices.
  • Install new boiler equipment and auxiliary components per manufacturer specifications and project drawings.
  • Complete accurate service documentation, inspection reports, and time/material records.
  • Maintain a regular presence at an assigned client site as scheduled, coordinating with site staff and the Tweet Garot service team.
  • Follow all jobsite safety procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and confined-space entry requirements.
  • Communicate clearly with dispatch, supervisors, and clients regarding job status, findings, and recommendations.
  • Mentor apprentices or junior technicians as paired on two-person jobs.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • 5-10 years of hands-on experience servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial or industrial boilers and steam systems required.
  • Journeyman-level trade license (steamfitter, pipefitter, or equivalent), where required by jurisdiction; this role performs service, and repair, and does not require a boiler operator/engineer license.
  • High school diploma or GED; completion of a boiler technology, HVAC, or steam fitting apprenticeship/trade program preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience with a range of fuel types (natural gas, oil, dual-fuel) and burner/control systems.
  • Experience reading boiler room piping schematics, control diagrams, and manufacturer service manuals.
