Pay Rate: $70,000.00 - 80,000.00 per year (based on experience)
Work Schedule: In Office. Must be able to commute to the Cincinnati/Blue Ash, Ohio office. Monday through Friday, Day Shift.
Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient Pattern Maker to join our growing Product Development team. The Pattern Maker will develop and create computerized patterns for manufacture of different garment types, with a concentration on tops and bottoms. The individual will interpret the design requirement specifications and create patterns to specifications and adjust for fit and proper construction, while ensuring design and style are maintained through the process, pre-production problems are kept to a minimum, and samples are provided on schedule. This person would have Tailored Clothing experience in Men's and Women's tops and bottoms.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be required to...
  • Finalize Production Patterns with all attributes - Grading, Alterations, Size Codes.
  • Knowledge to create product models with component identifications as specified.
  • Perform any or all pattern corrections necessary as a result of fit/wear test.
  • Develop and maintain a large library of patterns to use for Samples through Production.
  • Ability to develop Fit standards for multiple product categories.
  • Final grading and finished dimension charts for both Product Development and Production Patterns.
  • Provide technical advice as well as dictate fit comments to the Product Development Staff.
  • Identify potential production, quality or cost issues and make appropriate recommendations while maintaining design and fit intent.
  • Provide written instructions on all sewing operations to ensure proper construction/ executions on all Samples/Production.
  • Effectively communicate fit intent, balance, and construction to Sample makers.
  • Collaborate with Product Development Staff, Quality Control, other Pattern Makers, and Management as necessary to solve any production issues related to patterns or garment construction.
  • Research new ideas and technologies that could be used to improve the company's ability to develop and produce products.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must be able to interpret and apply Grade Rules to wide variety of styles.
  • Knowledge of garment construction and the ability to develop methods to achieve the proper finishing techniques.
  • Must be able to Measurements and Quality Inspect of all pre-production samples submitted by factories.
  • Must understand deadlines and be prepared to do what is necessary to meet required, which may require working extra hours.
  • Must be able to interpret garment design intent and create solutions for a diverse product line.
  • Have a solid understanding of pattern making and techniques used in pattern making based on fabric construction. Must be able to understand how the fabric behavior will affect the overall garment fit and appearance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player and able to collaborate cross-functionally to ensure deadlines are met.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Fashion Technology, or a related field is required.
  • Additional hands-on experience in pattern making is preferred.
  • 3-5+ years' experience in Gerber AccuMark system.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of pattern making experience in a design or production environment is preferred, particularly in tailored apparel.
  • Experience working with tailored garments (men's and women's tops and bottoms) is strongly preferred, including a solid understanding of fit, balance, and the nuances of structured garment construction.
  • Prior experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, factories (domestic and overseas), and sample makers is a plus.
  • A proven ability in managing digital pattern libraries, fit documentation, and grading specifications.
