Job Summary:

As the Fiber Splicing Technician III, you will be responsible for splicing, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining fiber optic cable networks while ensuring high-quality network performance and reliability. You will coordinate field activities, complete network testing and documentation, and deliver accurate fiber installations. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, quality workmanship, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

· Splice, test, troubleshoot, repair, and activate underground and aerial fiber optic cable systems.
· Diagnose cable plant issues, perform end-of-line network testing, and recommend solutions to support customer requirements.
· Read and interpret splice matrices, prints, maps, and fiber assignments to complete redlines, case swaps, audits, and required documentation.
· Build, prepare, seal, and maintain fiber cases and enclosures, including color-for-color splicing, jumper cases, tie points, and gel-filled case rehabilitation.
· Pull fiber cable through existing duct packages or conduit using manual, mechanical, or cable-blowing methods as required.
· Maintain accurate testing and project documentation while following all company safety procedures and quality standards.
· Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· OSHA 10 Certification required.
· Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.

Experience

· Minimum 3 years of fiber optic splicing and telecommunications construction experience.
· Experience with underground and aerial fiber optic installation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Skills and Abilities

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, splice matrices, maps, and utility drawings.
· Ability to accurately distinguish fiber color codes and perform precise fiber optic splicing.
· Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
· Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and follow written and verbal instructions.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining a safe and professional work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with fiber network activation, audits, and rehabilitation projects.
· Experience operating cable-pulling equipment and working in telecommunications construction environments.
· Additional fiber optic or industry-related certifications.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders and poles, and perform physically demanding activities for extended periods.
· Work performed outdoors in varying and inclement weather conditions, in confined spaces, at heights, and around heavy equipment and machinery.
· Ability to distinguish fiber color codes and perform detailed visual work.
· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety boots, safety glasses, hard hat, and other applicable safety gear.
· Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
