Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Data Center Tech Apprentice is an entry-level position responsible for assisting with the installation, termination, testing, and maintenance of low voltage systems. This role works under the supervision of Experienced Technicians, Floor Leads, or Installation Site Leaders, while gaining hands-on experience in the field.

*This role requires up to 100% travel.*

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

    Installation of structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cables
  • Support the installation of network equipment, patch panels, racks, and cable management systems
  • Pull, route, and secure cables according to project specifications and industry standards
  • Label and document cabling installations accurately
  • Use basic hand tools and testing equipment under supervision
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Follow company safety procedures and customer site requirements
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Perform other responsibilities designated by the Floor Lead or Installation Site Leader
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Interest in telecommunications, networking, or low voltage systems
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and willingness to learn new skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
  • Ability to lift, up to 50 lbs. and work in various environments (indoor, outdoor, ladders, etc.)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Physically placing, removing, or modifying equipment, or basket trays
  • Ability to trouble shoot cabling issues as well as resolve problems
  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, installation instructions, and basic technical documentation.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks safely and accurately.
  • Ability to ask questions and seek clarification when instructions or project requirements are unclear.
  • Ability to maintain professional communication on job sites and represent the company in a positive manner.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
