Job Summary:

The Shift Engineer is responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in the plant’s equipment and maintenance for the up keeping for the plant. The Shift Engineer is expected to represent Republic Master Chefs with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

Job Description:

  • Assist in the performance of mechanical preventive maintenance on process and facility industrial equipment
  • Assist the Journeyman and Apprentice engineers as necessary
  • Perform basic repairs on non-mechanical equipment such as carts and slings
  • Perform routine building maintenance such as painting, lighting, and general clean-up of the plant
  • Update equipment records on all maintenance performed
  • Assist in inventorying spare parts and tools as directed
  • Maintain and record daily utility consumption meter readings
  • Safely operate scissor lifts, forklifts, and other material handling equipment
  • Ability to use basic hand tools for personal use
  • Safely use hand and power tools throughout the facility
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair process and support equipment within the facility
  • Safely performs basic machining operations such as threading, drilling, tapping, and grinding
  • Safely use hand and power tools throughout the facility
  • Ability to lubricate any machinery
  • Assume duties for Chief Engineer and assists for closing the facility if working 2nd shift
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Must maintain regular attendance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Desired)
  • Associates Degree or Professional License (Preferred)

Skills:

  • Lockout/Tag-Out safety procedures:2 years(Required)
  • Preventive Maintenance: 2 years(Required)
  • Industrial/Production equipment maintenance and repair: 2 years(Required)
  • Laundry services industry experience (preferred)
  • Experience in basic welding
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical fabrication
  • Proficient in English in both written and oral

Physical:

  • Able to stand for long periods at a time
  • Carrying tools and equipment of up to 50 pounds on occasion
  • Constant exposure to hazards including confined spaces, chemicals, steam under pressure, climbing, working in positions above and under equipment and throughout and outside of the facility
  • Exposure to reasonable noise level, changes in temperature, odors, humidity, lint, and dust
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time.
