Job Summary

Job Summary: The Journeyman Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining production equipment, facility systems, and related machinery in a glass manufacturing environment. This position supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by performing preventive maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, and working closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams.

MAIN POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on glass manufacturing equipment, including conveyors, batch handling systems, furnaces, lehrs, forming equipment, inspection systems, packaging equipment, motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, and related plant machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic control system issues to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Perform equipment installations, alignments, adjustments, calibrations, rebuilds, and changeovers as required.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, welding/cutting equipment, and diagnostic tools safely and effectively.
  • Complete work orders, preventive maintenance documentation, equipment history records, and parts usage records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, confined space requirements, hot work procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in identifying root causes of equipment failures and recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance areas, production areas, and shop spaces.
  • Work collaboratively with production operators, supervisors, engineers, contractors, and other maintenance personnel.
  • Support emergency repairs and plant shutdown work as needed.
