What You Will Do:
The Toolmaker/Moldmaker Apprentice is responsible for working with the lead mold maker to assist in building new tooling per CAD or detailed prints, evaluate, maintain, and repair existing molds and production tooling while developing skills toward Journeyman-level proficiency. This will be achieved while maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.
Must be able to assist in building new tooling and components with guidance
Identify and communicate any possible tooling problems to the lead mold maker or supervisor
Must be able to work well with lead mold makers and learn from mold maintenance technicians and experienced toolmakers
Must be able to operate tool room equipment with training
Must be able to perform mold maintenance and assist with in-press mold changes
Must be willing to work overtime based on production needs
Other Functions
Work with QA to identify quality concerns
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Performs other tasks as assigned
Required Personal Protective Equipment: safety shoes are to be worn at all times during your scheduled work hours.
What You Bring (Qualifications):
Enrollment in or willingness to complete a Tool & Die or Moldmaking Apprenticeship program required
High School diploma or equivalent required
Basic understanding or interest in mold-building techniques and plastic injection molding
Ability to read, interpret, and learn engineering designs and computer-based CAD plans and models
Must possess good written and verbal communication skills
Must have good problem-solving skills and be detail-oriented
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
Must be willing to obtain personal precision tools over time
Prior forklift experience preferred
