Job Summary
Summary: The Electrician Apprentice Technician performs a variety of Electrician maintenance duties, and is assigned to work for an Electrician Senior Technician on a regular basis. The Electrician Apprentice associate is in an apprentice program guided by his project manager, mentor, supervisor and apprentice training committee.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, panel schedules, symbols, and branch circuitry to complete installations accurately.
  • Follows the basic methods of protection when wiring electrical installations.
  • Assists with pulling wire, lifting, hoisting, and positioning materials during electrical installations.
  • Identifies a list of the safety practices required in an electrical work area.
  • Demonstrates knowledge about the importance of a clear working space around electrical equipment.
  • Delegates tasks to helpers and monitors completion of assigned work.
  • Maintains updated prints and RFI documents for assigned projects.
  • Responds to emergency problems in the facility and makes emergency repairs as needed.
  • Communicates project progress, material needs, and jobsite concerns with field leadership.
  • Organizes tools, equipment, and materials while maintaining a clean and safe work area..
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Experience as a Maintenance Utility Worker or Technician occupation.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Is registered in an Electrician Apprentice Program with USDOL.
  • Rudimentary ability to utilize hand-operated construction equipment.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop and perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions:
  • Some exposure to elevated degrees of high heat, noise, dust, dirt and/or areas requiring infection control. Requires meeting deadlines for completion of work on a daily basis. Must be able to work all hours, including weekends and nights, as necessary, in order to maintain facility at the appropriate and safe level.
