Apprentice diesel technicians are entry-level workers who are learning how to inspect, repair, and maintain diesel engines and related equipment. They typically work under the supervision of experienced technicians, gaining hands-on experience while also studying relevant technical concepts. Their duties often include assisting with routine maintenance, troubleshooting engine problems, and learning to use diagnostic tools. Apprenticeships can last from one to four years, depending on the program and employer. Successful apprenticeships prepare individuals for full-time careers as diesel technicians.
