POSITION TITLE: CTAE Director

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Whole Child Support

FLSA Status: Exempt

Starting Salary: $112.000 - $114,000 (commensurate with educational background/experience)

Position Purpose 
The CTAE Director serves as the visionary leader of the College and Career Academy (CCA) and the external-facing leader for the Jones County School System (JCSS) CCA. The position provides strategic leadership for the continuous improvement of CCA programs, operations, and partnerships. The CTAE Director develops and maintains strategic partnerships with business and industry, postsecondary institutions, community organizations, and government agencies to strengthen curriculum, programming, and workforce development opportunities. Using data-driven processes for planning, implementation, and monitoring, the position directs administrative, curricular, and instructional services designed to improve student outcomes, expand college and career opportunities, and align CCA programs with local workforce needs.

Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership & Program Management

• Provides strategic leadership and oversight for the College and Career Academy and CTAE programs, ensuring alignment with district goals, student outcomes, workforce needs, and Board priorities.
• Develops and implements annual operating plans, program goals, and strategies in collaboration with principals, teachers, counselors, postsecondary partners, business and industry, and other stakeholders.
• Leads continuous improvement efforts using student performance, program, workforce, and stakeholder data.
• Builds effective teams, promotes a positive organizational culture, resolves barriers, and supports accountability and collaboration.
• Ensures the integrity, effectiveness, and continuous improvement of CTAE programs and services.
  
  
  

Program Compliance & Accountability

• Oversees CTAE Programs of Work, extended-day and extended-year activities, state and federal reporting, grants, and program compliance.
• Coordinates the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) and Perkins V funding application process.
• Oversees GCCAN certification renewal and Georgia Department of Education monitoring and risk assessment requirements.
• Works with teachers and program leaders to maintain and re-certify industry-certified programs.
• Remains current on legislation, regulations, and requirements affecting secondary education, postsecondary pathways, CTAE, and workforce development.
  
  
  

College, Career & Workforce Development

• Provides leadership for career pathways connecting secondary education to postsecondary education, credentials, military service, and careers.
• Supports CTSOs, Work-Based Learning, internships, apprenticeships, and other career-connected learning opportunities.
• Coordinates dual enrollment opportunities, including academic and occupational programs, in collaboration with postsecondary partners.
• Collaborates with counselors regarding graduation requirements, Bridge Bill requirements, alternative graduation pathways, and career exposure opportunities.
• Works with regional CTAE leaders, business and industry, and workforce agencies to align programs with local and regional workforce needs.
  
  
  

Financial Management & Resource Development

• Oversees College and Career Academy and CTAE budgets, assets, grants, expenditures, and financial resources in accordance with approved plans and applicable requirements.
• Leads annual budget development and resource allocation in support of program priorities and student outcomes.
• Identifies and develops grants, sponsorships, partnerships, and other funding opportunities to support programs, facilities, equipment, and student opportunities.
• Ensures the Academy's mission, programs, services, and accomplishments are communicated effectively to stakeholders.
  
  
  

Community, Business & Postsecondary Partnerships

• Serves as a primary representative and spokesperson for the College and Career Academy and CTAE programs, as appropriate.
• Develops and maintains partnerships with school systems, technical colleges, universities, business and industry, workforce agencies, government organizations, and community organizations.
• Represents the Academy and CTAE programs through appropriate civic and professional organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Development Authority, and workforce organizations.
• Collaborates with public and private partners to strengthen workforce development, program quality, funding opportunities, and student career pathways.
• Assists with presentations, public relations, and community engagement activities.
  
  
  

Facilities & Program Development

• Assists with planning and specifications for new, renovated, or improved CTAE facilities, equipment, and learning environments.
• Ensures facilities and program resources align with industry standards, student needs, and workforce demands.
  
  
  

Travel Requirements 

• Travels to all school district buildings, city/state agencies, and professional meetings as required

Experience, Skills, & Certification Preferred

• Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in education, business, management, workforce development, or a related field.
• Possess or be eligible for Georgia Teaching Certification
• Possess or be eligible for Tier I Leadership
• Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
• Demonstrated experience in secondary education, preferably grades 612.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, program development, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing organizational vision, goals, and strategies in a collaborative, partnership-based environment.
• Demonstrated ability to use data to evaluate programs, identify needs, allocate resources, and drive continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, resolve barriers, manage competing priorities, and build a positive organizational culture.
• Demonstrated experience with budget development, financial oversight, grant management, and resource development preferred.
• Demonstrated experience developing business, community, and postsecondary partnerships preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships with business, industry, workforce development organizations, and postsecondary institutions.
• Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
• Ability to be present at the physical worksite.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal education programs, grants, funding requirements, and compliance processes.
• Knowledge of graduation requirements, Bridge Bill requirements, alternative pathways to graduation, CTAE program components, CTSOs, Work-Based Learning, apprenticeships, dual enrollment, and career pathways.
• Superior written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of industry certification requirements and workforce-aligned educational programming.
• Knowledge of Perkins V requirements, Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment processes, and state and federal CTAE accountability requirements.
