Job description

At Mobius Renewables, we’re helping lead the global energy transition by transforming waste into renewable energy and measurable decarbonization. We’re a fast-growing team of expert innovators, engineers, and problem-solvers committed to advancing global sustainability, fueling a circular economy, and creating a cleaner future for all. Join us and help shape the future of renewable energy.

Position Summary

We are seeking a data-driven and analytical Trucking Logistics Engineer to design and optimize our regional and national freight transportation networks. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating lane performance, identifying cost‑saving opportunities, and utilizing advanced Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to build predictive routing models. You will work closely with fleet operations, safety compliance, and dispatch teams to ensure maximum asset utilization and superior on‑time delivery performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Optimization: Design and implement mathematical models to evaluate lane profitability, backhaul opportunities, and multi‑stop route patterns.
  • Freight Data Analytics: Extract, clean, and interpret massive freight datasets using SQL, Python, or Excel to identify transit bottlenecks and fuel inefficiencies.
  • Dashboard Development: Build and maintain interactive performance tracking dashboards using Tableau or Power BI to visualize key metrics like cost‑per‑mile, empty miles, and driver utilization.
  • Capacity Planning: Forecast seasonal freight volumes and align asset availability (tractors, trailers, and drivers) with regional demand fluctuations.
  • Technology Integration: Serve as the technical administrator or super‑user for the corporate Transportation Management System (TMS) and driver telematics hardware.
  • Process Improvement: Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate operational waste in terminal operations, cross‑docking facilities, and driver drop‑and‑hook workflows.
  • Vendor & Carrier Management: Collaborate with third‑party logistics (3PL) providers and owner‑operators to negotiate freight spot rates and scale capacity when needed.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Research, or a highly quantitative field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in transportation engineering, fleet logistics, or freight network analytics.
  • Hazardous Materials: Hazmat certification and/or experience.
  • Technical Software: High proficiency with leading TMS platforms (e.g., SAP TM, Oracle OTM, Blue Yonder) and routing optimization tools.
  • Data Tools: Advanced skills in SQL querying, Python/R programming for data analysis, and Microsoft Excel (macros, pivot tables).
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, ELD compliance, CSA scoring system, and asset‑based trucking constraints.
  • Problem‑Solving: Strong root‑cause analysis skills with a proven track record of reducing freight cost‑per‑mile or increasing trailer utilization.
Preferred Skills
  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
  • Certified in Transportation and Logistics (CTL) or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
  • Prior experience managing a private or dedicated commercial fleet.
