As a Crutchfield Car Installer Apprentice you will:

  • Assists with basic installations such as radio replacements, speakers, and simple wiring tasks.
  • Support inventory management and shop organization.
  • Learn our installation shop standards and protocols, as well as maintain shop cleanliness
  • Use a variety of diagnostic tools, such as digital multimeters and load testers
  • Engage our customers with a friendly, helpful rapport
  • Develop an understanding of our company’s Basic Beliefs and Noble Purpose

Training:

Don’t worry if you don’t have installation experience, we offer paid apprenticeships with hands-on training alongside experienced Car Installers. Training is conducted at our Charlottesville Retail Store, where apprentices receive hands-on experience working alongside experienced Car Installers. We offer mileage reimbursement for the travel to and from Charlottesville. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, installers transition into their full-time role based out of our Harrisonburg Retail Store. Most apprentices complete the program in 3–6 months and transition into full Installer roles.


Qualifications:

  • Valid VA driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Good hand dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Ready to work in confined areas, such as vehicle trunks and under dashes
  • Ability to lift 50lbs, crouch and bend repeatedly, and sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Eagerness to learn
  • Ability and willingness to learn more about consumer electronics
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • MCEP Certification is a plus


Salary and Advancement:

Apprenticeships start at $16.00/hour.

After successfully completing the apprenticeship, installers begin at Installer Level 1 and have the opportunity to advance through Installer Levels 2, 3, and 4 as they gain experience and demonstrate proficiency. Installers also participate in a monthly incentive program, earning a portion of the labor dollars generated from the installs they perform. Between the hourly rate, advancement opportunities, and incentives, experienced installers typically earn $39,000 to $50,000 per year, with uncapped incentives that allow top performers to exceed $50,000 annually.

Installers who earn an MECP Skilled Certification receive a $750 bonus, while those who achieve MECP Expert Certification earn a $1,000 bonus. These industry-recognized certifications demonstrate advanced technical knowledge, professional expertise, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
