Machine Builder / Mechanical Assembler

Location: Lake County, OH
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour, based on experience

Our client is seeking a skilled Machine Builder / Mechanical Assembler to join a growing manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building equipment from the ground up, working from blueprints, and using a variety of fabrication and assembly techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble custom machinery and mechanical systems from engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Fit, align, and install structural components and mechanical assemblies.
  • Perform sheet metal fabrication, including cutting, bending, and forming materials.
  • Weld structural components using MIG and/or TIG welding processes.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including saws, drill presses, tapping machines, and other shop tools.
  • Inspect completed assemblies using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical fitment and alignment issues during the assembly process.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in machine building, mechanical assembly, or industrial fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with:
    • MIG and/or TIG welding
    • Sheet metal fabrication
    • Band saws, chop saws, drill presses, and tapping equipment
    • Precision measuring tools
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
  • Technical training or apprenticeship in welding, fabrication, or machine building.
  • Basic electrical assembly or panel mounting experience.
