Job description

As a Transmission Line Engineer in Engineering Services,you'llprovide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate, and develop transmission line designs for greenfield and brownfield projects.This includes PLS-CADD modeling,structural analysis,developmentofdesign criteria, wire selection, etc.

  • Assistwith proposal development and serve as the Technical Lead for transmission line projects.

  • Perform QA reviews and provide mentorship to less experienced engineers and designers.

  • Estimate labor, material, and construction costs for transmission line projects.

  • Conduct field inspections, route evaluations,and provideconstruction support.

  • Create construction bid documents, review contracts, specifications, bids, and offer recommendations.

This job might be for you if youpossessthe following:

  • Bachelor of Science Degreein Electrical,Mechanical,Civil, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.

  • 5+ years of transmission line engineering experiencein the electric utility industry.

  • P.E. licenseor ability to obtain within a specifiedtimeframe.

  • Proficiencyin transmission line design, including:

  • Developplanand profile drawings.

  • Structure loading and analysis for wood, steel, and concrete poles/towers.

  • Sag-tension calculations and conductor clearance analysis.

  • Foundation design for transmission structures.

  • Routeselectionand environmental considerations.

  • Knowledge ofpermittingprocedures, right-of-way, property lines, and easements.

  • Familiarity with industry standards such asNESC, ASCE, IEEE, AISC, ACI, ASTM, and RUS specifications.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Capable of supervising and training new team members.

  • ProficiencyinPLS-CADD,PLS-POLE,PLS-TOWER, and SAG10software.

  • Experience with structural analysis tools such asLPile, andRISA 3D/ RISA Foundation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 500kV, along withproficiencyor working knowledge of power line design softwarerelated toPower Line Systems (PLS)tools.

  • Experience with renewable energy integration and grid modernization projects.

Pay Range Data

Project Engineer III $120,000.00 - $180,000 per year. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
