POSITION: Districtwide Teacher of the Hearing Impaired
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree; Certificate for Teacher of the Hearing Impaired or Teacher of the Hearing Impaired with Sign Proficiency under the Educational Professional Standards Board.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
JOB GOAL: To provide students with special education services necessary for them to benefit from special education and within the guidelines, legal obligations, standards, policies and procedures of the federal, state and local educational agencies.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide and coordinate unique specialized instruction through daily lessons reflective of the curriculum and the student's IEP.
2.. Consult with classroom teachers, regular and special education personnel, parents, and students to coordinate programs and services for the hearing impaired student.
3. Coordinate services, supplementary materials, educational aids and equipment; monitor student's maximum participation in all classroom activities.
4. Provide instruction in the development and maintenance of skills as indicated in the IEP.
5. Collaborative with special education and general education staff in developing student IEPs, including goals and supplementary aids and services.
6. Attend IEP meetings and required staff meetings.
7. Conduct and interpret functional hearing assessments and complete written reports.
8. Compile and analyze data on student progress and use response to intervention to adjust interventions or strategies as indicated.
9. Use technology to communicate and to enhance student learning.
10. Plan and supervise the functions of classroom aides/assistants.
11. Maintains appropriate student behavior control and establishes a productive classroom environment.
12. Conduct parent conferences.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Term contract with specified beginning and ending dates as indicated in letter of employment. Hours are as designated by the Director of Special Education.
EVALUATION: Evaluation of the performance of this job will be conducted according to the procedures developed for all district personnel.
SALARY: Based on rank and experience CONTRACT: Part-Time
