Job description

Position Title:
Quarterly Lecturer- Applied Mathematics (2026-2027)
Position Type:

$10,948.00 per Course Equivalent (CE)
Purpose:
The School of Engineering invites applications for Quarterly Lecturer (QL) positions in the Department of Applied Mathematics for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Santa Clara University operates on a quarter system. Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters each consist of ten weeks of instruction followed by a final examination period.
Graduate classes are typically held at the following times 7:10AM - 9:00AM, 5:10PM - 7:00PM, 7:10PM - 9:00PM time slots. Undergraduate courses are offered throughout the day and evening and may be scheduled at various times during the week.
Quarterly Lecturers may teach up to four Course Equivalencies (CEs) during an academic year, with no more than two CEs in any given quarter. An additional two CEs may be taught during the summer term.

Undergraduate Courses
  • 4-unit lecture: 1.0 CE
  • 1-unit lab: 0.25 CE
  • 1-unit lab without a teaching assistant: 0.5 CE

Graduate Courses
  • 4-unit lecture: 1.0 CE
  • 2-unit lecture: 0.66 CE

Responsibilities
Teach one or more undergraduate or graduate courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering, including:
  • Preparing and conducting all assigned class meetings
  • Developing and administering course assignments, examinations, and assessments
  • Evaluating and grading student work in a timely manner
  • Holding office hours and being available for student consultation outside of class
  • Submitting final grades by university deadlines
  • Completing departmental and accreditation-related assessment activities as required

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. Degree in Mathematics or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, specifically in Statistics
