Job description

Embrace the opportunity to become an Indirect Procurement Specialist for Applied Industrial Technologies.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • Assist in the strategic sourcing and management of indirect spend categories such as office supplies, uniforms, and travel to optimize cost and service.
  • Serve as point of contact for indirect goods/service providers and internal customers while ensuring appropriate levels of management engagement and approval.
  • Develop Requests for Proposal, purchase contracts and professional services agreements.
  • Create and maintain indirect purchasing policies, procedures, and process controls.
  • Gather market intelligence and track industry trends for assigned purchasing categories.
  • Execute Environmental, Social, and Governance initiatives within assigned spend categories.
  • Build and maintain beneficial relationships with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Develop and execute cost reduction strategies for assigned spend categories.
  • Lead facilities management projects, at both local and field facilities, as needs arise.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Job Duties
  • Oversee category administration, ensuring accurate financial coding, payment, supplier vetting and compliance with company standards.
  • Deploy supplier performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Investigate, propose, and execute strategies and activities to reduce the company's costs and increase service to customers.
  • Create and maintain productive relationships between suppliers and internal customers.
  • Lead contract development activity in conjunction with the Legal department.
  • Facilitate the payment for indirect goods and services and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Act as Office Coordinator for Applied's Corporate Headquarters location, including janitorial liaison and inventory management, furniture and workspace configuration and maintenance.
  • Vet vendors, conduct purchase negotiation and execute the purchase of office and warehouse equipment and services for local HQ and field locations.
  • Develop an annual budget; track and manage expenses within budget.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong organization and communications skills, especially e-mail.
  • Experience with spreadsheet software and data analysis tools.
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management preferred.
