POSITION SPECIFICS

The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department at Penn State Behrend invites applications for a non-tenure-line faculty position to begin in Fall 2026. We seek a colleague who is committed to excellence in undergraduate education and who will actively contribute to the academic mission of our programs.

The successful candidate will teach a range of undergraduate courses at both introductory and advanced levels, in resident and online formats, supporting the Computer Science and Software Engineering programs. Responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development, scholarly activity assessment, and participation in departmental and college committees. Areas of expertise may include computer theory, systems design and programming, introductory and intermediate programming in Python, Java, C++, or C, as well as specialized areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud deployments, or game development.

A minimum of a master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field is required by the appointment start date. Industry experience is highly valued, though not required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality teaching and student engagement, with the potential to contribute to research and applied projects. After an initial two-year appointment, the position is renewable, contingent upon enrollment demands, job performance and funding availability.
