Job description

SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and supporting the areas of business applications and ERP. Maintains the primary student system (Jenzabar CX/Ellucian Banner) and ensures that all systems interoperate to provide seamless access to information and resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.      Work with the Associate Vice President of Technology in developing strategic direction and vision for enterprise business software.

2.      Manages the application lifecycle of ERP/SIS and other related applications such as business analytics and reporting. Assist in evaluating, deploying and managing current and future business software.

3.      Oversee software development and integration projects related to supporting the business mission.

4.      Responsible for maintenance, management, security, and administration of student and business systems, which includes Jenzabar CX/Ellucian Banner, Cognos, JICS, StarRez, Canvas LMS, AdAstra and other related systems.

5.      Create, maintain and manage project schedules, scope, timelines/milestones, and resources.

6.      Communicate such information to appropriate university stakeholders.

7.      Oversee security and compliance related to PCI and enterprise information security as it relates to business applications.

8.      Attend meetings and represent ITS appropriately with internal and external clients as needed.

9.      Ensure that project deliverables are timely, within budget, seamless, secure, and usable. Organize any training needed for customers.

10.  Maintain fluency and understanding of ERP/SIS products and connected applications including functionality, capability, security, and best practices. 

11.  Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed by project scope.

12.  Interface and communicate with customers as needed and assist in developing a customer-centric and service-oriented culture.

13.  Participate in planning activities with other areas of ITS.

14.  Maintain thorough documentation of systems for all applications and processes.

15.  Stay current with the latest technologies and trends to improve access to information and services.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervise employees and student workers. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.

  • Experience in managing enterprise business application projects; understanding of IP networks and enterprise applications; knowledge of information security practices and accessibility compliance.
  • Ability to work with customers to define project scope and schedules; broadly look at impact and project possible scenarios; simultaneously coordinate and complete multiple projects; maintain a long‐term, big‐picture view and foresee obstacles, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees; work closely with vendors, consultants, and contractors; and work flexible hours.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and student body; communicate effectively both orally and in writing and present information to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to perform thorough research to propose alternatives and options; investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree required in the areas of Computer Science, Computer Information System, Management Information Systems or related field; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of five (5) years experience in the Information Technology sector with demonstrated experience in managing enterprise business software projects. Experience with Windows and Macintosh operating systems and applications desired.
