Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR
Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

Job Duties and Other Information
JOB DUTIES:
  • Assists with field data collection including, but not limited to, traffic volume counts, intersection turning movement counts, travel speed, curve advisory speed, intersection condition, and other field traffic data as required for traffic operations studies. Enters collected field traffic data into appropriate worksheets or applications and generates information required for traffic reports and studies; compiles and presents data in a workable format.
  • Reviews crash reports and prepare crash collision diagrams using available crash data listings.
  • Drafts sign and/or striping plan drawings designed or marked up by staff engineers.
  • Assists with field inspection duties related to the management of the district's outdoor advertising inventory programs.

POSITION SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Appointment Type: Probational or promotionalCareer Progression: As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Engineering Technician 1, 2, 3, or 4 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). The maximum salary for the Engineering Technician 4 is $6,552.00 per month. Please refer to the 'Job Specifications' tab located at the top of the LA Careers 'Current Job Opportunities' page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualifications and job concepts for each level.
Compensation:
  • Engineering Technician 1 - Starting salary is $14.00/hourly with an additional $2.00 premium pay for every hour worked.
  • Engineering Technician 2 - Starting salary is $16.03/hourly with an additional $2.00 premium pay for every hour worked.
  • Engineering Technician 3 - Starting salary is $18.35/hourly with an additional $2.00 premium pay for every hour worked.
  • Engineering Technician 4 - Starting salary is $21.00/hourly with an additional $2.00 premium pay for every hour worked.
