Charlotte, North Carolina

$120,000-$160,000 Annual Salary, Dependent on Experience

Advance your career with an industry-leading robotics and machine tools manufacturer! A world-leading OEM of automated robotic machinery and turnkey automation solutions with over 90 years in business is looking for an Applications Engineering Manager to join their growing team! The Applications Engineering Manager will provide vision, leadership, and day-to-day oversite of the Applications Engineering Department.

The Applications Engineering Manager will be responsible for:

  • Technical Leadership:
  • Set clear goals and deliverables for technical center staff.
  • Manage risk during project execution.
  • Review and provide technical direction for time estimates and projects.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Engineer, execute, and troubleshoot complex machining processes using cutting-edge technology.
  • Understand high-end multi-axis CAM systems, G/M-code, macro programming, Shop Mill & Shop Turn systems.
  • Understand workholding design principles.
  • Project Management:
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and direct engineering staff.
  • Manage project costs for the local office (basic P&L understanding required).
  • Allocate resources to meet project deadlines and guide engineers on procedures.
  • Communication & Support:
  • Provide pre- and post-sales technical support for machine tools.
  • Develop machining time estimates, test cuts, and cutting demonstrations.
  • Deliver high-level technical presentations to various audiences.
  • Administer support to the Sales Team.
  • Provide weekly schedules of other engineers' assignments to relevant managers.
  • Troubleshoot issues and convey solutions to customers and management.



The Applications Engineering Manager will excel with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred or 10+ years in Application Engineering
  • 7+ Years’ Applications Engineering experience related to Automotive, Industrial and Aerospace sectors and/or related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 3+ years of Supervisory experience required
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Extensive Application and Operational Knowledge of CNC Machine Tools Equipment, Lathe applications and automation
  • Experience with workholding selection for lathe applications
  • Knowledge and background of Statistical Processes
  • Technical Knowledge and Logical Troubleshooting Skills
  • Excellent Communication and Customer Relation Skills
  • Willingness to Travel when necessary
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
