Application Engineer – Variable Speed Drives
Roanoke, VA
Up to $139K Base
5 Weeks PTO | ~15% Travel

We’re hiring an Application Engineer to support the design and implementation of variable frequency drive (VFD) systems for custom industrial automation projects, primarily supporting overhead crane applications.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with customers, solving complex drive-related challenges, and owning projects from concept through commissioning.
What You’ll Do
  • Define system requirements and develop specifications for low & medium voltage VFD systems
  • Collaborate with OEMs and end users to deliver custom-engineered solutions
  • Troubleshoot AC/DC drive systems both remotely and on-site
  • Develop electrical schematics and support system-level design
  • Assist with commissioning, tuning, and optimization of VFD systems
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and recommend cost-effective solutions
  • Support technical proposals, costing, and client discussions
What You Bring

  • Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) in industrial environments
