About this Job Engineer 7 Section 40 - Construction 40/50642655/E7/8.12.26-BH About this Position: This position is located in the DOTD Construction and Materials Automation Unit. This unit is responsible for project management, implementation, operation, and support of multiple state-wide specialized Construction and Materials Management software applications, including AASHTOware Site Manager, La Pave Online, Headlight, and construction and materials reporting. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTIONS: A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of professional engineering experience. A doctorate degree in engineering will substitute for two years of professional engineering experience. Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of professional engineering experience.

There is no substitution for licensed engineering experience. NOTES: Engineering experience gained while licensed as a professional engineer will be accepted as licensed engineering experience. Engineering experience gained after earning an ABET-accredited degree and prior to earning a professional engineer's license (e.g., as an engineer intern applicant, engineer intern, or equivalent) will be accepted as professional level engineering experience

Applications will be accepted from persons licensed to practice professional engineering in states other than Louisiana. If one of those applicants is selected for the position, he/she will be required to obtain a Louisiana license prior to appointment. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Serves as technical advisor to the Chief Construction Division Engineer, Construction Engineer Administrator, and Materials Engineer Administrator in handling complex, multi-faceted, statewide issues, especially those affecting construction and materials applications and automation. Serves as primary project manager for both contracted and in-house development and implementation of construction and materials software applications and automation. Provides specialized assistance and leadership in developing policies, procedures, and training applicable to statewide construction and material software applications.

Confers with other state DOTs, FHWA, LTRC, and Contractors to collaborate and assess options. Assists with administrative matters such as budget, personnel, and organization. Serves as technical expert and advisor for numerous job-related committees, such as L TRC Research and AASHTO.

Serves as technical lead and software administrator over operations regarding specialized statewide Construction and Materials Management software applications. Communicates regularly with external clients hosting applications or providing other services related to construction and materials. Position-Specific Details: Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) - $3,481.60/biweekly

The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant. Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency-wide permanent status employees); Job Appointment, or by detail to special duty.
