Job description

Help Believe in Me conduct a fair, consistent, confidential scholarship review process for underserved youth and young people.

We are seeking a limited number of Authorized Scholarship Application Reviewers. Reviewers evaluate assigned applications only after completing screening, confidentiality, conflict-of-interest, bias-awareness, and rubric training.

Responsibilities:

  • Review only assigned applications within the approved secure system
  • Apply published criteria and scoring rubrics consistently
  • Document evidence-based ratings and concise review notes
  • Disclose conflicts of interest immediately and recuse when required
  • Protect applicant identities, essays, financial information, school records, and personal circumstances
  • Participate in calibration, quality checks, and authorized selection discussions
  • Avoid outside research, applicant contact, downloading, or sharing materials
  • Escalate ambiguous eligibility, safety concerns, or process issues to authorized staff

Qualifications:

  • Strong judgment, reading comprehension, consistency, discretion, and attention to detail
  • Experience in scholarships, education, grants, admissions, evaluation, compliance, or structured review is helpful
  • Ability to follow rubrics without substituting personal preferences
  • Willingness to complete a background check and all required training
  • No current conflicts with applicants, schools, or selection outcomes

This is a remote, seasonal volunteer role available within the United States. Expect approximately 8–15 hours during each assigned review cycle.
