Job description

HealthPartners is hiring an Actuarial Business Systems Principal Analyst.

POSITION PURPOSE
  • To provide technical and programming support to the Actuarial and Underwriting Departments.
  • To develop functional specifications for moderately complex systems and programs.
  • To code, test, debug, and document complex programs and functions.
  • To provide analysis and evaluation of the technical aspect of proposals for new or enhanced projects.
  • To provide expertise in several applications areas and maintains a high level understanding of HealthPartners business operations.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
  1. Under minimal supervision, designs and develops specifications for highly complex systems from approved functional specifications.
  2. Develops specifications for complex programs, functions, and interfaces, including resource estimates.
  3. Interfaces with the business user or analyst to identify and document modifications that are needed.
  4. Performs coding, unit testing, and integration of complex programs in preparation for production implementations. Establishes an implementation plan; Monitors testing phase and reports status to business user or manager; monitors implementation of work into production to insure data integrity.
  5. Make innovative contributions to improve the internal operations of the department.
  6. Explores, researches, analyzes and determines feasibility of technology options.
  7. Oversees the work of Programmers or lower level Programmer Analysts. Functions as project leader on medium to major sized projects as needed.
  8. Develops a high level understanding of HealthPartners business operations.
  9. Participates effectively as team member to accomplish project objectives.
  10. Identifies application/project deficiencies and/or application/project software enhancements.
  11. Maintains current knowledge of trends, technology, and developments in computer software and in business operations through continuing education, publications, and professional organizations.
  12. Demonstrate HealthPartners Core Values: Passion, Integrity, Teamwork and Respect.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years experience in data processing
  • 6+ years experience in current healthcare software and/or hardware technology
  • 6+ years experience in large-sized project management/leadership
  • 3+ years providing work direction to others.
  • Thorough knowledge of current healthcare business, software technology, database, query languages, and end-user software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in HealthPartners system development projects in one or more business areas.
  • Ability to meet aggressive project schedules
  • Strong desires to maintain current knowledge of programming languages and hardware technologies
  • Ability to obtain thorough and accurate information to complete program specifications
  • Ability to conduct thorough testing to ensure complete and accurate results
  • Prior experience working on complex systems
