Summary:
The Manager of Application Development & Support will lead a Product Development Team to plan, build, test, transition, and support developed solutions for the Health Information Exchange. This role will drive the successful delivery and maintenance of products and services related to the Contexture Health Information Exchange and external clients through all the defined phases of the software development life cycle. Ensuring efficient and effective tier 3 & 4 support of developed solutions is also a primary responsibility.
The Manager of Application Development & Support will report to the Director of Application Development & Support and interact heavily with other Contexture teams and clients. This role focuses on the management of Senior Software Engineers, Software Engineers, Senior Developers, Developers, Junior Developers and others as needed.
This is a key strategic role at Contexture, and the candidate must have the talent and vision to successfully lead a team through an ever-changing and challenging space.
This position is based in Phoenix Arizona; Denver Colorado; or Grand Junction, Colorado and requires local residency in one of these base locations. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.
Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Manage a team of developers in a primarily .NET environment.
  • Maintain stable working conditions and relationships within the team.
  • Hold individuals accountable for meeting and maintaining satisfactory performance results.
  • Establish and maintain Secure Software Development and Support practices with the team, peers, and leadership.
  • Identify opportunities and propose process improvements aimed at optimizing all aspects of team and individual activities and interactions.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure alignment across all products and services on the Contexture roadmap.
  • Oversee Engineer and Developer assignment to sprint teams, ensuring each project is appropriately staffed and managed to meet project timelines and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with other Development Managers to oversee project assignments to sprint teams, ensuring workloads remain feasible and manageable.
  • Triage Tier 3 and Tier 4 support requests and drive their resolution.
  • Serve as the accountable position for any assigned applications for ongoing support and oversight.
  • Mentor team with development activities to meet goals and commitments, career development, hiring, procedures and staffing recommendations.
  • Communicate with and support the Director of Application Development & Support with any initiatives, offering suggestions, concerns, process improvement proposals, etc. for review, alignment, and formalization with the larger business.
  • Own development and transition planning activities within the team to ensure solution and documentation handoffs are completed and concise.
  • Participate in and manage vendor engagement activities to meet Contexture vision and product roadmaps as well as any necessary higher tier support of delivered solutions.
  • Exercise initiative in developing operational goals, personal goals, and leadership development programs for team members.
  • Effectively communicate and/or make presentations to senior level management within Contexture and other key external stakeholders and/or participants. Provide Program level reporting internally and externally related to Contexture Product Development initiatives.
  • Drive development outcomes and own continual service improvement as it relates to product
  • Collaborate with peer managers to identify and overcome barriers or complications to workflows and procedures within, and between, teams.
  • Follow all security and compliance requirements.
  • As applicable, after hours may be necessary to support after hours deployments, changes, or major incident response.

Skills
  • Working knowledge of all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle.

    • Experience with implementation of OAuth2 and other API security protocols
    • Implementation experience with REST API

    • Experience working in both Windows and Linux based environments.

Education/Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Technology and Software Development.
  • 3+ years of technical leadership experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of direct management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another related field required; equivalent directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
