Job Summary:


The Application Engineer - Wireline & Energy Services is a senior technical role supporting wireline and oilfield service applications across testing, data management, and cross-functional execution.

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, this position is responsible for overseeing all wireline applications testing, maintaining and improving technical data management practices, acting as the technical bridge between engineering, operations, R&D, and commercial teams, and implementing standards that ensure data integrity and service quality.

Working with the team, the position also contributes to the development and implementation of new technology solutions


Key Accountabilities:


Applications Testing (Wireline and Field-Focused)

  • Providing technical client facing support for the development/design/validation of any tests
  • The development of test programs
  • Implementation of process around testing to ensure safe and efficient performance of all tests
  • Design and capture all data requirements around testing
  • Report generation


Data Management and Integrity

  • Develop, implement, and improve systems, processes, and policies to manage job, results, and service quality data
  • Establish/maintain data standards, workflows, procedures, and inventory of operational data
  • Ensure functionality, integrity, and accessibility of data management systems and solutions
  • Coordinate with internal and external specialists to analyze and interpret technical data


Cross-Functional Collaboration and Technical Support

  • Collaborate with all departments to share best practices and ensure alignment
  • Support Sales and Marketing through validation/creation of case studies, job information forms, job programs, and technical papers
  • Participate in business reviews on all applications, engineering and research proposals
  • Provide technical oversight on sales tools and documents (e.g., competitor comparisons, revenue calculators, tool data sheets)
  • Coordinate technical input for project execution with subject matter experts
  • Validate production and equipment treatment data in Salesforce
  • Participate and provide input in all R&D/Engineering planning efforts


Service Quality, Innovation, and Industry Engagement

  • Lead service quality initiatives, including root cause analysis and failure resolution
  • Participate in R&D direction through data analysis, SRED tracking, and tool/testing planning
  • Create treatment programs, final treatment reports, and screen wells for candidate potential
  • Contribute to technical communication through case studies, white papers, and SPE papers
  • Proofread and edit technical documents and represent the company in alignment with its core values


Required Qualifications & Competencies (including Licenses/Certifications):

  • Minimum 5-7+ years of wireline industry experience
  • A relevant degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institute, preferably in science or engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • 7+ years' experience in engineering, applications engineering, or product development within oil and gas or energy services
  • Advanced technical proficiency across multiple technology platforms (Office, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence tools) with proven expertise in report creation, modeling and trend forecasting
  • Able to analyze and interpret geoscience, petrophysical, and production data and to present results, recommendations and/or best practices
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a demonstrated interest in research and data analysis
  • Highly collaborative workstyle combined with a capacity for problem solving and achieving results
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and influence across technical and non-technical teams
