Pay Rate: The Hourly pay rates are based on the following:
Current Undergraduate Student: $14.00
Current Graduate Student: $16.00
Positions Available: 1
Hours: Minimum of 20 hours per week - up to but not to exceed 29 hours per week.
*Maximum of 29 hours per week cannot be exceeded.

Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning is responsible for meeting the child care and early education needs of Georgia's children and their families. It administers the nationally recognized Georgia's Pre-K Program, licenses child care centers and home-based child care, administers Georgia Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) program, federal nutrition programs, and managers Quality Rated, Georgia's community powered child care rating system.
The department also houses the Head Start State Collaboration Office, distributes federal funding to enhance the quality and availability of child care, and works collaboratively with Georgia child care resource and referral agencies and organizations throughout the state to enhance early care and education.
Job Summary:
The IT Intern will assist customers who are experiencing any procedural or operating difficulty with the use of DECAL equipment and industry standard IT applications, products, or services. Complex and/or high priority problems are escalated to our lead or specialized support groups for resolution when needed, but the IT Support Specialist is responsible to ensure that an effective solution is provided to the user.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with basic technical support for agency computer systems, software (e.g., Windows 10, Microsoft Office), and hardware.
• Provide support in person, over the phone, or through remote tools for IT-related issues.
• Help set up and troubleshoot laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, and mobile devices.
• Support users with login issues, printing problems, and software/application questions.
• Assist in tracking user support requests using the agency's help desk system.
• Help prepare and maintain IT equipment, ensuring devices are clean, updated, and functional.
• Shadow IT staff to learn imaging, software installation, and inventory tracking.
• Support mobile device setup using tools like Intune or AirWatch.
• Participate in small projects and assist with documenting IT procedures and user guides.
• Work as part of the IT support team and escalate complex issues as needed.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Learning Objectives
To gain hands-on experience in IT operations within a state agency, including exposure to technical support processes, hardware and software troubleshooting, inventory management, and the use of enterprise-level tools for system imaging, mobile device management, and help desk tracking. Interns will also develop customer service and communication skills through direct support of agency staff and IT projects.

Entry Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled student, part-time or full-time, with a 3.0 GPA or higher (must submit transcript to verify enrollment and GPA.

• Working level skill in the use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) Good research and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced level skills in the use of Excel
• Excellent business writing, organizational, and computer skills.
• High level of skill in research and analysis with the ability to form conclusions and recommendations based on analysis
Physical Requirements and Performance Aptitudes (for Interns):
  • Must be able to spend extended time working at a computer (viewing screens, typing, and reading).
  • Able to listen carefully, follow instructions, and communicate clearly with team members and users.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving when handling basic technical issues.
  • Capable of organizing and analyzing data to support IT operations and decision-making.
