As an MES & Industrial Automation Intern, you will work closely with Manufacturing IT, Operations, and Engineering teams to support automation projects, manufacturing applications, and data-driven process improvements. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
MES Development & Manufacturing Systems
  • Assist with the development, enhancement, and support of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) using Ignition and related manufacturing technologies.
  • Support manufacturing application testing, configuration, and deployment activities.
  • Help improve system functionality and user experience within shop floor operations.
  • Assist with documenting system requirements, processes, and technical solutions.
Industrial Automation & Machine Connectivity
  • Support machine connectivity initiatives, including PLC integration and industrial communication protocols.
  • Assist with collecting, validating, and monitoring manufacturing data from production equipment.
  • Participate in automation projects that improve shop floor efficiency and visibility.
  • Help troubleshoot connectivity and system integration issues.
Data Visualization & Operational Analytics
  • Support manufacturing reporting, data visualization, and operational analytics initiatives.
  • Assist in developing dashboards and performance metrics that help drive operational decisions.
  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, improvement opportunities, and process insights.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve data accessibility and reporting capabilities.
SCADA, Industrial IoT & Emerging Technologies
  • Participate in SCADA, historian, and Industrial IoT application development and testing activities.
  • Assist with cloud-based manufacturing and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Support projects involving AI-enabled manufacturing, machine vision, and smart manufacturing technologies.
  • Gain exposure to modern Industry 4.0 concepts and connected factory solutions.
Team & Project Support
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing IT, Engineering, Operations, and business teams on technology initiatives.
  • Assist with research, technical documentation, and project coordination activities.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts and continuous improvement projects.
  • Take on special projects that provide exposure to multiple areas of manufacturing technology and automation.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Basic programming knowledge in Python, C#, or similar languages
  • Understanding of database concepts and SQL fundamentals
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing systems, automation, or control systems concepts
  • Familiarity with networking, system integration, and data communication fundamentals
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work independently
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to PLC programming and industrial control systems
  • Familiarity with SCADA, MES, or Industrial IoT platforms
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure
  • Interest in AI, machine vision, smart manufacturing, or Industry 4.0 concepts
  • Experience working with manufacturing data, dashboards, or operational reporting tools

What We Are Looking For
Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Entry Level.

What We Offer
Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $22.50 - $25.00/hour. This rate is based on the intern's current year in their respective university programs. Graduate students may receive a higher rate of pay based on their year in school. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
